that personal touch

I'm quietly* sitting and stitching
(with crossed legs)
but I'm also contemplating.
One of my favourite bloggers Rachel from Stitched in Color
has written a thought provoking post on blog content,
and whether to share personal stuff.
On the whole I speak from the heart and like to think I'm genuine.
Some things I want to get off my chest!
Thank you to all my followers and commenter's,
not forgetting emailers who stick by me whatever my mood.
I feel I should also acknowledge emails that have passed me by, and to thank the
lovely people for sending me messages and awards that I have failed to respond to.
I am also guilty of not commenting as often as I should.
my bad

There is a great blog hop concerning blog etiquette going on over
I heed you to take a look, you may learn some interesting things.

Enough of the heavies!
Have a great blogfree weekend?

*actually I'm listening to planet rock

  1. Oooh! What a pretty binding! And your hand stitching means you must nearly have a finish! Look forward to seeing you quilt in all its glory!

  2. Blog etiquette - I'm piqued! Thanks for linking and have a lovely weekend =)

  3. This is an interesting subject that Rachel has raised here. There are so many stitching blogs and yet only a few that I return to time and again. It's partly because of the stitchy content (so happy to find someone who doesn't just produce an EPP quilt as a one off!) but also there's a sense or feeling of connection with the blogger. I'm a fairly new reader of this blog but really enjoying it and appreciate it when your share your thoughts on non-sewing matters. For myself I share the things I'm comfortable sharing, but I'm aware I don't give away that much. Although apparently this is also true of real life so at least I'm consistent! I'm particularly enjoying your Patchwork Planet idea and regret the many places I've patchworked and didn't have a camera to hand !

  4. I love the colour of your binding! I'm really enjoying the posts over at Kat's blog and I'm off to read Rachel's post...

  5. Just be yourself that's the important thing! I love your blog!!

  6. Thanks for linking! I saw that blog post by Rachel too and thought it couldn't have been more relevant timing since that's what inspired me to run the etiquette week again this week.
Good that we're discussing this stuff but I like you am looking forward to a less heavy tone next week :)

  7. This is one of my favourites and I usually like full on colour - you have taught me it doesn't always need to be that way Clare ! Thanks!

  8. Clare, this looks so pretty!

Sharing isn't easy. But I do think a bloggers personality colors the way they write their blog, and sometimes a lot can be read between the lines. Yours is always a good place to visit!

    ; )

And now you have me hexed...

  9. I have to agree with Deb(Hi Deb, love you and your blog), just be yourself. I think many forget that blogging started out as online journals. I am amazed that anyone reads about my crazy life, and I have meet some very wonderful bloggers who, like Deb, write from their heart, about their feelings and life. Quilting or not. Sadly, I believe many are going for perfection and not being themselves. I have over the last two years written some very personal posts. My regular readers emailed me and helped encourage me when I was at the bottom of the barrel. That would not have happened if I had not written from my heart.

Life is full of ups and downs. Putting "it" out there may bring the crazy commenter, but more likely, your regular readers will be there to encourage you.

I blog without obligation. My blog is to record my life and what is going on at the time.

You have a wonderful blog and much to offer anyone who reads it. Please do not change course now.

    blessings, jilly
