the dark side of quilting

Lately I've been tackling the economy block.
I went with my first plan to quilt with black.
Im a little unsure as always
Dont the stitches look like marching ants?

Phew... Still a long way to go, but I'm enjoying
courting the darkside x

  4. I like marching ants :) When I was younger I occasionally drew little ants on my wall, crawling in a line in quite natural positions. It was behind and below my bed so my parents didn't see it until I moved out. They wanted to be angry, but I think they were quite impressed :)

I think it looks good - bold, but with stitching as neat as yours, you can afford to go bold :)

  5. It looks so great. I am interested that you baste with big hand stitches rather than pins. Does it hold it together better? Thanks :-)

  6. I don't think I have ever hand quilted with black thread (and I have done about 50 quilts), but I like the look of yours. It looks just right with the colors of your quilt. I'm impressed with your stitches. So perfect!

  7. The first time I quilted a quilt with perle cotton, I used black. It is one of my favorite quilts! If you are going to spend all that time hand quilting, it might as well show. Lol! I love your quilt.

  12. Your wonderful hand quilting really gives this quilt added interest, that little-something-a-bit-extra that eludes some!

  14. looking good to me and your stitches are so even in size, hand quilting is a relaxing way to quilt rather than all the tension machine quilting gives me, in the process of machining one and not having fun with it
